Celebrating National Volunteer Week: A Heartfelt Thank You to Our Volunteers
Volunteers are the heartbeat of United Way! From our Board Members and dedicated committees to community volunteers who attend our volunteer projects, our volunteers help us carry out our mission of ensuring that everyone in our community has access to basic needs.
This year, National Volunteer Week was April 21-27. We want to express our appreciation to the incredible volunteers who dedicated their time and energy to support various projects throughout last week. Together, we accumulated 157.5 hours, a value of $5,275, of volunteer service!
From gleaning red peppers to putting together literacy kits, each volunteer has made a meaningful impact on the Palm Beach County community. Our volunteers are at the heart of what we do, and they embody the spirit of generosity, kindness, and empathy. They inspire others to give back and demonstrate the importance of lending a helping hand to those in need. We applaud our volunteers not just during National Volunteer Week but year-round.
We hosted four projects that had a combined 75 volunteers! Read more about the projects below:
• Literacy Kits: A Literacy Kit is comprised of a book and a collection of related activities and props designed to bring the book to life and promote a love of reading in children. These kits will play a part 
in making reading interactive and enjoyable. We hosted two Literacy Kit projects at our office where volunteers from Bank of America, J. P. Morgan, Barentz, Vertical Bridge, our United Way staff, and the community came together and created more than 70 kits that will be shared with local children served by United Way-funded agencies.
• Gleaning: In partnership with Cros Ministries, volunteers rolled up their sleeves to pick red
peppers that went towards providing our neighbors in need with a healthy and nutritious meal. Volunteers from Vertical Bridge, Barentz, and the community made this feel-good morning so successful!
• Hygiene Kits: Volunteers from NCCI worked together to assemble 500 hygiene kits that will be donated to Adopt-A-Family, an organization with nearly four decades of experience providing supportive services to families facing homelessness and housing instability. Thanks to their hard work, families in our community will receive a ray of hope with these essential items.
